Just upgraded to a WNDR3700 and seem to have set it up perfectly, except for the fact that my 5ghz network cant be seen.

I am sure both devices support N, and even reinstalled my wireless drivers and rebooted.

The router has a steady blue light where 5g is, so it supposedly is working.

Did i forget something, this seems like it should be easy....

The vast majority of devices only support 2.4GHz 11n. What wireless adapter(s) and phone model are you using?

You could probably still do wireless-n on the 2.4G though correct?

Yea, i was just under the impression that 5ghz was better for some reason.

I dont know much about networking, so i think for some reason i thought wireless n and 5ghz were related.

It is for interference because less people use that for wireless then 2.4g but anyone who has purchased a cordless telephone recently probably has a 5gh one.

5ghz has more open channels and less sources of interference. It doesnt penetrate solid objects as well though.

Had the same, ended up switching off the 5Ghz frequency to reduce power/heat and then using inssider to scan and set it to channel 3+7 40mhz.
