[SOLVED] Catalyst Control Center error after virus.

Yesterday my computer was infected with the Alureon.FE trojan. I was able to remove it easily and didn't have any problems.... Until today when I logged back in to windows I received an error stating: "Catalyst Control Center host application has stopped working". So I uninstalled everything to do with AMD/ATI, ran driver sweeper and driver cleaner pro, then reinstalled the same Catalyst version I had before (11.11). Still the error persisted. I uninstalled again and this time installed Catalyst 12.1. No change. I have noticed if I run Catalyst Control Center as an admin, everything works fine. Any suggestions?

I wonder if the permissions to either to a directory or registry key has been altered. Is Catalyst installing clean with no error messages?

Yes, catalyst installs without any errors or problems.

Booyah! All I had to to was un-hide the ATI folder in the AppData\Local directory. Now it works without any problems. Thanks!

Glad it worked out. I've encountered similar driver related issues multiple times when resolving virus/malware problems.
