I recently bought an LG 8x Blu-Ray burner for my pc. It came with CyberLink PowerDVD BD 7.3. The firmware and software are both updated. My video card is an Asus Radeon 4890 with two DVI ports, it is an HDCP compliant card. My monitor is a Hanns-G 27.5" 1920x1200 with D-Sub and HDMI ports, the HDMI is of course HDCP as well. I am using the DVI-HDMI cable supplied with the monitor. Other pc info: Vista 64, AMD 955BE, 4GB G-Skill 1333 DDR3.

PowerDVD refuses to play Blu-Ray movies, telling me to use a non-existing analog (RGB D-Sub) output. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

I thought about buying the latest PowerDVD, version 9, but am not confident it will work. I read that AnyDVD HD will make most movies play, and let me rip them, but I don't wish to buy that program.

I will not waste money on a set-top player that only plays disks, or a PS3 as I don't play console games. I don't even have a TV anymore, nor do I want one as I can get a pc tuner for a lot less cash.

download the PDVD9 trial, the trial and oem software is only 2 channel sound but should enable you to view the bd, your 7.3 version may not play the latter bd movies.

Now this is interesting. I got PowerDVD to work by installing the WinDVD demo. Before I had a chance to load the demo, my movie simply started up in my OEM PowerDVD, with surround sound instead of stereo.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
