I accidentally created an F: and a G: drive, BOTH of which are being shown as CD and DVD drives. I believe that they are fringing on my original DVD-RW Drives, disabling it's ability to backup my dvd's.

I attempted to backup a dvd of mine earlier, but it gave me a DMA(?) error then failed to burn. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of this F: and G: drive. When I right-click, it doesn't give me a "delete" option, and I can't figure out how to make them go away!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

How did you create them????
Go back there and just disable them in Alcohol 120% and PowerISO. And AFAIK, you can't right click->delete on a drive.

Or did they just magically appear from *insert funny word here* :p

OK, I thought uninstalling the "drives" from the device manager would solve the problem, but the drives showed back up after my first reboot!

What gives?

You'll probably have to delete the entries in your registry in order to fully get rid of them. Unfortunately I don't know which entries off the top of my head. Try doing a search for Upper Filters and Lower Filters in regards to CD-Rom drives in Google and follow those instructions. That may help you.

Now that I think about it, this will probably fix your problem. Upper filters and lower filters is what you want to search for in Google and you'll just delete those two entries if they're in your registry and reboot. That should help with removing those two drives.

I"m assuming your trying to delete the drive from windows explorer and having no luck, you won't be able to delete/remove the drive in this manner.
Also, it would be nice to know exactly which program you are using to create these virtual drives, as they work differently. If you are using alcohol for the extra drives, follow these directions to set the number of Virtual drives to 0
Open alcohol --> Click the file menu --> click options, on the left hand side there should be a tree like structure with a bunch of listings for different options, select "virtual drive" from there it should show you on the right side many options related to the config of your virtual drives, there should be a line saying "number of virtual drives" or something to that effect, just click the drop down box, and select 0.
after that, hit ok, and close the program, give it some time to close and such, as the program is probably going to need a few moments to reconfigure your system to not use any V. Drives.
I hope this helps.
