It is a circular symbol with an exclamation point on inside of it.

There is a small square on top of the circle portion. Around the circle there are 6 or so short straight lines perpendicular to the circle.

I checked the oil so I know its not that.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks

Problem solved. It was the right rear brake light.

Nothing major thank god. I better get a manual so I better know what this vehicle has.

Something to do with the handbrake? My car has that light to warn that the handbrake is on, although on some cars it can be to warn of worn brakes i think...

Not sure what you mean about the square and the perpendicular lines though??

Sounds like a tire pressure indicator, though I cannot tell without a photo.

no manual? i guess not, otherwise you wouldn't have posted this thread. my windstar has no such light. I'd guess at tire pressure.

thanks for all the help guys.

From the monterey manual it most closely corresponds to the master light switch.

The only difference is my symbol has an exclamation point inside of it.

Edit: I looked through the manual and didn't see a master light switch.

Check transaxle: Illuminates when
a transaxle problem has been
detected and shifting may be
restricted. If the light remains on,
have the system serviced
immediately.

pull the battery, that resets the car computer, if its still there it may be time to take it into the dealer

With a Ford it is most likely the sensor has a short causing the light to go on when nothing is wrong.
