Solution to the room too hot due to too many OCed PCs?

That apparatus looks like it would create back pressure. (holding heat in case)

Agreed. 80mm into 40mm would mean an increase in air preassure, which an 80mm fan will not provide. A better solution would be to have another fan at the other end of the pipe assiting the Case fan by pulling air through the pipe.

I also note that this appears to be on the PSU. The Fan on the back of my Enermax is not the most powerful fan exhausting my case, they should have a more generic attahcement.

The apparatus has mounting holes for a 80mm, as described on web page.
But,

I have a tendency to believe it would hinder the CFM of the fan,

and possibly burning the brushes in the motor of the fan itself.

I actually have a similar concept, I have 90mm fan on the side panel of my case (place directly above the HSF unit) with a attachment I made (from Home Depot) that forces air thru a flex tube into my CPU HSF unit that RAISED the rotations of the HSF unit.

I called it my 'dual induction' HSF unit ... hehe.

What a stupid idea. Where is the hot air to go?? If you cut a hold between two studs as shown you, are just blowing hot air into a 4" by 16" by 8' (the room height) sealed box. Very bad idea. You could hook the hose up to a central house vacuum system, but you wouldn't want to run that 24 hours a day. Also the type of fans used on power supplies don't use brushes. RRR

That idea is fundamentally retarded. Not to mention the problems you would have with building codes.

If one could find 80mm tubing to match the diameter of the fan, then it might be a more viable option. I don't like the idea of restricting the airflow through a smaller opening. Thankfully, my computer is in my basement, which remains relatively cool. Plus, since heat rises it tends to move into the rest of my house.

I went to best buy in the fall, they were having a clearance on window airconditioners. I picked up a small model to augment my home air conditioner for $169. It even comes with a remote :)

I've had no trouble since. I have on occasion during the winter put it on "fan-only" vent to keep the room cool.

hehe yah, really.

I also noticed that my room temps are a helluva lot cooler now that I'm not using my G420 (using a 1900FP LCD now).
