I don't really care about the starving people in Africa. They aren't really my responsibility. In fact, they aren't anybody's responsibility other than their own.

There was an article a couple of weeks ago suggesting that the aid to Africa was causing more harm then good as those in charge were constantly thinking of ways to get more aid and how best to distribute it to themselves and their friends.

we need to focus on improving their economies and general healthcare. stop wasting money sending aid, that is useless.

How do you propose we improve economies and general healthcare by letting people starve for lack of cheap food, or die of treatable and immunizable diseases?

we = ?

who really caused the problems in today africa? the old european countries. US takes no responsibility for that.

lol....this is sad. Definitely improve on the economy. But that wont change that much, once there is money involved, the rich must always have the very poor.

Fvck Africa.....

There is barely enough arable land to feed everyone on the planet a purely vegetarian diet as it is yet people want to feed the people that think raping virgins cures aids? Fvck that....... ......for the "lets save the world people" I guess the only humane solution would be for us all to starve together.

Yet another reason to fund space research..................

what if firefighters said this about your burning home?

i'm not saying we need to be the world's savior or policeman, but as an extremely wealthy nation, don't we have a responsibility to try to help others?

during the rwanda genocides, people PAID to be shot, rather than hacked up with a machete. the going rate was $21.

there's something seriously wrong with that.

Of course its their own fault they are poor and starving, they were just begging for warlords to move in and terrorize everyone.

Amen.

We wonder why people hate America and become terrorists, I'm sure people struggling in Africa would be more than happy to go blow themselves up in front of some of you callow morons who say "let them die".
Us here at ATOT were lucky enough to not be born in Africa, so why should we let our brothers and sisters who were die slowly and painfully?

As for the fact that the world is reaching a population:food ratio threshold, bogus. Enough rice and wheat is produced everyday to feed every person on earth for that day.

Care to back that up? I can support my statement in the one language that doesn't lie..................

if you want to be selfish, here's why you should care about Africa:

Africa is 20 Afghanistans in the making. just like Afghanistan, they're poor, underdeveloped, undereducated nations, who have been used as pawns in the European chess match and now abandoned. These are the places where Islamic extremism thrives, where terror cells go to hide and train and recruit.

Help them develop their land, help them educate their people, basically give them hope-- and extremism won't be able to get foothold.

Responsibilty for something tends to imply that you brought it own. I get drunk and cause an accident that paralyzes someone. I am responsible for this, no one else (except for those people that blame bartenders and anyone but the drunk person.....). Other scenario, I'm driving home, I get hit by a drunk driver, and become paralyzed. I am not responsible for this.

at the same time it was not my fault I was born into the poor family I was........the direction my life took after I was no longer dependent on my family was however my responsibility...........................
