Solution for iPod not matching iTunes' sorting for purchased music

I'm posting this to help future people doing google searches as when I tried there were no results to help me, so I solved it myself.

Problem
The sorting order of songs within albums is wrong on the iPod and doesn't match iTunes' correct order. Specifically, purchased songs are all in a cluster at the start or back of the album, while ripped songs are correct.

Solution
The iPod seems to more aggressively use the Album Artist tag than iTunes does:

So either make sure the field is correct for the whole album, or just clear it. I clear it which also saves a tiny bit of disk space.
