Dear Sirs,
We offer two years warranty, and your board was purchased during year 2002, 10, which is out of warranty.
If you would like to send back to repair, we will charge USD $50.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards

Warranty is one thing, which I understand, but for bad caps shouldn't they cover their product? It's 2 yrs old, but caps should last 5yrs.

I see their point, but I thikn they should RMA it anyways? opinions?

I don't care for the mobo or anything, was just curious what ppl thought. To me if a mobo fails because of cheap parts used, warranty or no warranty they should rma it for me. maybe i'm too liberal. :p

Soltek did back the product for 2yrs which isn't bad IMO considering the accelerated depreciation of computer hardware. Going above and beyond that would likely force them to raise prices due to increased costs. The similar performance and features Soltek boards offer for a lower price than most other solid brands is why I have purchased them so if that happened it would lose them some customers no doubt. If you overclocked the board you aren't entitled to anything anyways, if you did not disregard the comment of course :)

You could do the repairs yourself, just search for the necessary info, but I don't consider it isn't worth the time&effort given its age.

nope didn't OC at all. I just thought they could send me replacement caps. I read on another forum they did that for someone. It would be the least they can do IMO. Like Isaid i don't care for it anymore. :)

Specifically request exactly that and I am fairly certain they will. A Soltek rep who visits here, Lydia, may be able to help, so PM her.

Let's see. Board purchased in 2002. Warranty expired 2004. RMA request 2005. Denied.

If you didn't like the warranty you shouldn't have bought the board. Why would you even ask them to RMA something that isn't under warranty?

Don't get me wrong, failing in just 2 years is bad. But if Soltek mailing you new caps or writing you a letter of condolence is up to the goodness of their hearts.

Thats why I'm skeptical of gpus having high operating temps or skimpy heatsinks.

It is up to their hearts, that's why I wrote to them. I know the warranty is over, i didn't expect them to ship me a new board overnight or anything. I expected new caps tho.

Caps cost about .25-$1.00 apeice depending on the specs, ect. If you are only "fair" in your soldering abilities you could replace them easily because the soldering points are on the backside of the board where there is plenty of room to work with.

They are easily identified by having the spec right on them, so getting the exact replacement/cross reference is easy. I would buy a good low heat pencil solder iron from Radio shack and order the parts from Mouser.com , since they do not have a minimum and will no doubt have higher quality caps to replace yours.

You really only have to replace the bad ones, not everyone on the board, and they do have polarity which you will have to pay attention to, but other than that, about the easiest repair you could attempt on your own. You should be able to repair your board for about $15, and if you screw it up, what are you really out?
