Soltek SL-K890 and Venice Amd Chips

Got rid of my 3800 Newcastle on ebay and I'm planning on getting the 3800 Venice or 4200 San Diego next month. Anyway I contacted Soltek and they said the bios is already set up for these new 90micron cores. Every site I've looked at said that new Bios updates are needed for the motherboards to recognize the new chips. Is the Soltek tech blowing smoke here and will it work if I drop in the new San Diego chip? Guess I'll find out soon enough.

This same tech also told me my new Fortron 24 pin power supply would not work in the 20 pin K890 pro. Needed ATX 2.03. Anybody out there running a 24 pin supply with this motherboard? And did you have to buy a 24 pin to 20 pin adapter? Cannot get a straight answer on this. thx
