Soltek 865Pro2-FGR

I bought this MB for 30.00 on Chiefvalue, for the sole purpose of the third IDE channel. However it doesn't detect any drive that I attach to it, whether it be HD or optical drive. I know the third channel is controlled by a VIA chip.....do I need drivers or something for this channel to be recognized? Here is a link to the M/B

No, actually, from the spec, it is a Promise controller, which need to be activated in BIOS, and need drivers for it. And usually, Promise cannot support optical devices.

can i just run one drive with this controller? after I install the driver of course....
