If I read your post correctly, then when you remove the new RAM all is OK. That narrows it down a bit. Could be either the RAM itself or the Power Supply. The RAM is either incompatible, defective or of poor quality. If it is Crucial you could probably eliminate the poor quality factor and check compatibility. If that is correct then maybe you should try a different stick (borrow one?) to see if it will work. The power supply (300 watt) is probably sufficient but quality can vary alot from one unit to another. Try removing the case cover and unplug the power from a few items (like CD, extra fans, NIC, etc) and see if it will boot with the extra RAM in it. If so then it is probably the Power Supply.
Before you try anything though, see if resetting the CMOS will enable you to use the RAM. Don't forget to write down your BIOS settings first though, so you can go back and "fix" it later.

My guess is your power supply... Use one that is recommended by AMD. Most of the PSU's on AMD's list for the 1900+ are 340w or better. I built a system with that CPU using the Enlight 300w PSU and I know I ran into problems. Switched to the Enlight 340w and the problems disappeared.

Reading your post I was thinking PSU as well,so a good 350w like Antec,Sparkle,Enermax should solve the problem, lots of people upgrade their CPU and forget that they need more power so the PSU becomes more important .

I would follow Buz2b advice first since his advice and troubleshooting tips will save you spending money until you need too.
