Wow, i hadn't seen the Sky till this thread.

I'd say easily Sky > Solstice > Miata

Those Skys are gorgeous 😀

I'm a Miata fan 4 life, so I ain't budgin. My car after the 99' Miata dies out will be another Miata!

Edit: And I can consistently get > 30 mpg 😀

The Sky looks like isht (ok, maybe not THAT bad). It has that trendy "Here today, gone tomorrow" styling to it. In other words, you look at it and you can tell instantly what decade it came from and what design trends it hacked. It's just too fussy with too many bad design elements thrown in to go along with a tacky looking interior.

It's the same reason why a Mazda RX-7 will ALWAYS look better than an RX-8. It's just a classic design that never tires. The Solstice too is just a clean, classic roadster design inside and out all around.

In conclusion, RX-7 > RX-8 and Solstice > Sky

You suck. I only get 17-18MPG. I need a new engine. 🙁

You can move in the Miata too. It's a lot more roomy than that MR2 Miata-wannabe, and the Miata actually has a functional trunk.

I sure as hell couldn't move around in the one at the auto show. I'm 6'2 1160 LBS, I was suprised how tight the car was for my skinny ass.

Well if you're 1160lbs I doubt there are any cars you'll fit in. 😉

That is teh sux0r. I drive about 35% city, 65% highway, so maybe my reading is inflated. What kind of oil do you give it? How fast do you drive?

I use 20w50 but I live in Fl. I drive very aggressively so that does kill my gas milage. But still, I'm running way too rich. Puffs of black smoke come out of the exhaust when I accelerate.

That is your opinion. I find both the RX-7 and RX-8 to be sexy cars. I think the reason why most people perfer the RX-7 is because it was a performance king. Lightweight and gobs of power. The RX-8 isn't really in the same class as the RX-7, and never will be. That said, I still like the RX-7 better, simply because its a more "hardcore" sports car. RX-8s are still sweet though.

Regarding the Solstice vs Sky, the Solstice's front end looks very bloated, it really makes the car look unattractive. The Sky is very sharp and has aggressive lines.

Regarding that "classic design", if you had really cared about that, you would automatically dismissed the Sky or the Solstice and would have voted for the Miata. Originally designed from the Lotus Elan, it doesn't get any more "classic" than that.

Meanwhile, check out this thread for what others think.

I think his supercharger has something to do with it.

Perfect Air/Fuel ratio = 14.7 particles of air per particle of gasoline.

Supercharger = Forced Induction

More air = More gas

Both the Solstice and Miata are modern takes on classic design themes. I just happen to like the looks of the Solstice better. The Sky is just too trendy for its own good IMHO (just like the fugly RX-8).

Sadly, it's nearly impossible to get pure gasoline. 🙁

Stoichiometric ratio for MTBE is 11.7:1, and for ethanol is 9.0. This drops the Lambda ratio down closer to the 14:1 with the 10-11% typical mix.

For forced induction, 12.5:1 or so is much safer.
