Solstice GXP!!! (specs)

http://www.laautoshow.com/2006/debuts.aspx

Pontiac Solstice GXP
The sleek new two-seater gets more power with the debut of the Solstice GXP, which features GM?s all-new Ecotec 2.0-liter turbo, the most powerful production engine in the Ecotec family. This turbo with direct injection kicks a V-6?s worth of power out of a four-cylinder engine, an estimated 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It will arrive in dealerships this summer.

😀

because the specs have never been known before but if the LAautoshow website is wrong... then well...

as for the others, meh, what one on there can you afford?

I finally saw a Solstice yesterday. It didnt look to bad, though I would have liked to get closer to it.

yeah, lots of fun there. I just wish they would do a FRICKEN HARD TOP!

Too much weight and cost. I'm sure there will be aftermarket ones, though.

Too much weight? You'd be able to remove all of the folding convertable equipment and reinforment for the convertable and replace that with a roof at VERY little weight increase. Not to mention, Bob Lutz said it would shave off about 1000 dollars from the MSRP if they offered one.

it would, or it could??? 😉

anyways, yes, a hardtop version would be awesome. what would be even more awesome, was if the hardtop version looked like the Concept and looked different than the Conv. form.

to bad that would cost way to much money

I thought he was referencing a folding or removable version, not a standard coupe.

I was always under the impression that making a convertible adds weight because of the reinforcing done to the body.

there is no reinforcing for a lot of convertibles.

but its mainly because of all of the stuff needed for the motor, collapsable area and what not.

Decent handling convertables are always reinforced to make up for the structural regidity lost from not having a roof.
