Solitary confinement..

I heard medically you can suffer from long-term emotional damage if you're put under a dark, very confined, windowless room with nothing in it (no clock) for as little as 36 hours.

Anything more results in permanent damage.

Isn't there also a rule about limitation to solitary confinement set by UN?

I don't understand. People do it for spiritual purposes all the time, but I guess since it's voluntary it has a whole different psychological effect. Check out the Spritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola for a good example of a 30-day silent retreat, where the only human contact you really have is very limited with a spiritual counselor.

Better than torcher I guess.........

being torched would suck, i agree.. unless you meant to be better than being the torcher, as having to light people up like that as a job... hmm that would be demanding emotionally.
