I am getting back into this because I have it on my PDA. Anyway, my question is... is almost every game winnable ? I've played over 15 and can't finish any of them. Does it change the gameplay if you deal 1 vs. 3 ? I'll have more questions later...

it just means you suck at solitaire. You should probably stick to easier games like tic tac toe. 😉

No not every game is winnable. Dealing 3 is harder than dealing 1 because you don't necessarily get to see all the cards. I always play Vegas rules in Windows Solitaire. It's Deal by 3 and you can only go through the deck 3 times.

Every game of Freecell, except for one, is winable. Solitaire on the other hand -- uh... no.

I do think I suck at solitaire but you know what ? There's really only 1 or 2 variations to each game... either the cards are laid down in your favor or they're not... is this right ?

somehow i found i could win almost every game on the computer, but lost 80% of the games i played on the PDA... i could swear the pocket pc version is harder

No, there are several variations depedning on the deal. I guess some deals could result in only 1 play, unless of course you decide NOT to play a card from the stack by choice. But even then, there IS that option. You don't have to play a card just because you drew it, that choice may open up a different card on your next pass through the deck and allow you to finish the game. Where if you played that card, you would have never opened up the one card you needed to finish the game.

which is frustrating because on the PDA, you can just load up the same game again... and I used another variation of stacking... still came up short. :| And with that... since I haven't won a damn solitaire game since like '95... it's like I'm slow in the head. 😉
