Solidworks/Windows XP problems

I'm trying to run Solidworks 2005 student edition on my computer. It installs fine, but when I try to run it I get the following error:

Failed to initialize Object Linking and Embedding (OLE).

I'm thinking this is Windows XP related. Any fixes?

Try this possibly (reregister OLE automation):

regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\oleaut32.dll

Enter that in start menu run.

I get an error that forces SW to crash as well, namely:

Error signature
AppName: sldworks.exe
AppVEr: 13.3.1.110
ModName: sldappu.dll
ModVer: 13.3.1.110
Offset: 000ac1c0

I put up a post on their forums but no dice so far. I'm not sure what's going on here? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling...
