Barack Obama's infomercial last night was seen by 21.7 percent of households in the top local television markets, Nielsen reports.

The three presidential debates, by point of comparison, were watched by (in order from first to last) 34.7 percent, 42.0 percent, and 38.3 percent of households in these markets.

Nielsen also notes that Ross Perot's 1996 Election Day telecast, the last similar political program, was watched by 16.8 percent of households.

Not bad. That's one in five.

In other news ...

Half of the households who watched the infomercial had to be quickly rushed to the emergency room because of uncontrollable diarrhea.

Stats like Nielsen's do not include DVR recordings right? If not then you can count at least one more household that watched it. :)

It did really good in swing states and the north east.

Not so well in the rest of the country.

Detroit is interesting, 40 out of 56. Was there something else on TV at this time?

BTW I think we will get some demographics on the viewers later today. That will more interesting than raw ratings.

I'm sure you can count on Telemundo to feature a translated version between now and the election. They already have translated versions of his regular commercials running on their station.

Well it was either watch that or talk about the Lions. :p

But Detroit = cars so it has been hard and with more talks about layoffs/closings they need all the help they can get. Of course getting a honest mayor might help first.

Just proves that BO is just another slimey politician who will say anything to get elected:disgust:

Did anyone really think that any "true" facts would be covered during this event? Just more of the same "barely scratch the surface" type of responses from the ol' BO.

Unless you?re a Nielsen family no matter what you watch your household doesn't count.

You should know all about superficial. Your posts are masterful examples.
