Solid Green Floppy Light

Floppy light on the drive is staying solid green. I have read everywhere that the red line on the floppy cable (pin #1) should point towards the power connector. Should I crack it back open and reverse it? And, do I have to reverse both ends? Or just one?
 
Hi, You are correct. Cable backward causes the lite to stay on. On most drives the colored stripe does go toward the Power connector, but not all. I have several that are different. Some drive PC boards have the pins marked. Another thought - If you put a disk in that drive while the cable is reversed the disc will be wiped out. Maybe only the boot info, but it will be damaged. The cable could also be backward in the Mother Board as has already been mentioned. Hope this helps, Jim
 
Pin 1 towards power applies in all cases EXCEPT floppy drives in my experience. Those are a total crapshoot...sometimes the fvcking cutout for the cable notch is even backwards on those goddamn things. So much for standards.

I'm also not sure what you mean about both ends? You can only but the data cable on two ways...backwards and not backwards.
