Solid DMC4 Sales Should Clear Path For Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 4 was both a critical and financial success when it released earlier this year, which means we can probably expect to see a fifth entry at some point.

Capcom has just revealed that their fiscal 2008 sales increased to over 83 billion yen (about $806 million), and DMC4 was a major part of that boost: it has now sold over 2 million copies worldwide since its February launch. At last year's E3, series producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said that they need Capcom's go-ahead before his team could start working on any new DMC installments, and with these recent positive numbers, there's really no good reason for the publisher to put a stop to this profitable franchise. Last year, Kobayashi had this to say-

"...personally I would like to continue with Devil May Cry and create more and more games for this franchise. Devil May Cry 4 has turned out to be a very cool-looking stylish game for those that have a PS3 or a [Xbox] 360. If you don?t buy Devil May Cry 4 you would think ?Why didn?t I buy it?? There?s no worth of having a PS3 or [Xbox] 360 without Devil May Cry 4. That?s the kind of game it?s going to turn out to be." (source- VideoGamesBlogger)

Well, DMC4 is certainly one of our favorite games of the generation so far, so if Capcom made Devil May Cry 5, we wouldn't complain. Hell, we'd consider confirmation of a fifth DMC as very, very happy news.

I hope for a DMC5 🙂 The fourth part is very fun, you can do some really crazy and sick looking combos ! And the game plays a bit easier than the previos parts I think. The one thing that bothers is the way shadows are drawn, very blocky! Looks especially bad on the forest levels. At least it does so on my Xbox360 (connected to a FullHD TV via HDMI, 1080p if that has any bearing on the shadow quality). Apart form that, one of the more enjoyable games I've played in quite a while.

I can agree with that. It looks exactly like that on my PS3 version in the forest as well.

I liked DMC4 but next capcom..ease up on the backtracking. Redoing the same levels with another character is a cheap way to lengthen the game.
