Solid capacitors vs. normal (electolyte) capacitors

I see that on a lot of new mobos from gigabyte, msi, asus that have solid capacitors and how some promote extra stability and longevity. I was wondering about the average lifespan on a mobo w/ normal electrolyte capacitors vs. solid capacitors since my xfx board doesnt have solid capacitors and i was wondering if i was missing out on anything.

Thanks.

Nothing wrong with electrolytic caps, per se. As long as electrolytic caps are not sub-standard, underrated for the application, or used to mitigate/mask the effects of poor/cheap design choices elsewhere in the circuit, your XFX board should out-last your desire to continue using it.

So far, from my experience, most of the boards I have used with standard electrolytics have lasted a minimum of three years at stock speeds(the shortest time award goes to my Soltek KT266A board that only lasted about 16 months). I believe as long as you have good airflow in the case and keep them cooled properly they should last a while.

alrighty i shouldnt worry about my board not having solid capacitors, since i would probably would replace it b4 it wore out liek you said tcsenter.
