I swear if these people keep calling me I am going to get even more pissed and I dunno if I can. They call so early in the morning and its freaking rediculous. Does anyone know of that list you can join to where they cannot call you anymore? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone tell me where to sign that thing!!! I dunno how much more of this I can take.

I changed my phone number a few years ago because it got so bad. We were getting 3-4 calls every night. I also registered with the do not call list and I never get those calls anymore.

I find the best way is to waste their time. Pick something in the house and attempt to sell it to them. Or act very interested and keep asking questions, dont commit to the sale but keep asking questions. Or, use them for cheap phone sex.

I put my number on that list when it first came out. I very rarely get telemarketing calls anymore.

They can't legally call that early. Google "telephone consumer protection act" and read up.

That's exactly what they want. The guys working the phones get payed by the time they keep you on the phone, not by whether or not they sold you on their product.

Try googling for the 'Telemarketer Tarpit'. Brilliant idea.

Edit: damn. Looks like it's been removed. It was a hardware device attached to the phone that had a 'panic button' that, when pressed, would periodically mumble something to keep the telemarketer thinking you're still on the line.

If I'm bored and in a good mood, I must be their favorite customer. I chatted with one marketer for 20 minutes about hunting in Wisconsin vs. NY.

Bingo.

If you do it right, this could be quite profitable for you.

$500 per call, IIRC.

if the OP is, say, at school, and has a phone registered under a different area code in a different timezone (e.g. he's in cali and has a cell phone with a new york 917 area code), it may be legal since 10AM ET = 7AM CT. we need more information first.

Give the once chance to gracefully bow out ... then hang up. No problems.

You can't solicit to cell phones. Cost minutes.

My friends that work at americall get will get fired if they dont meet sales and call quotas. Its like spam, its only worth it if its high volume. So keeping them on the line is like DOS attacking a spammer imho.
