Really though i dunno about the demo... it might not work on vista and the mission in the demo is probably one of the tougher missions in the game, definately an eventful mission but play it on easy first.
Anyways i bought this from GOG.com yesterday, ive played it before and own the disks but i lost them, probably just as well because the disk versions come with starforce :frown: (GOG.com version has no DRM its just 1 installer file). This is one of those gems that people never play for some reason, like giants citizen kabuto and maybe psychonauts, i say maybe for that because ive not played it yet its on my to do list. Oh theres also a lot of positive reviews for it on GOG.com so its defo a good game!
Soldiers is a little bit like the old commandos games, except it has more action and less frustration when your carefully laid plan goes to hell. Theres 4 campaigns, theyre all fun, the UK one is most like commandos, the german one is the most fun imo because you start with a tiger for every mission, russian and USA campaigns are somwhere in between. The thing that makes this game extremely fun is the "Direct control" feature, take direct control of an infantry unit or tank and move them around with the arrow keys and aim with the mouse, its a blast taking enemy armor to pieces with the tiger! Or stealing an enemy tank and destroying their base with their own tank. Theres a tutorial and a bunch of bonus missions to boot, there used to be multiplayer over gamespy but that was 2-3 years ago i doubt anyone still plays. Also theres a sequal called "Faces of war" but it sucks dont bother with that.
Anyways if you are even remotely interested in WII and liked commandos or even company of heros give this game a try. Back in 2004 the graphics on this game were amazing! They hold up well today.

Video of "Tank Attack" bonus mission <-- My fav mission in the full game, just trash the oncoming german tanks with your KV1 and later once it arrives IS2. Or get trashed by them, either way its a fun mission.
