Just heard that a General at a base in Texas is discouraging soldiers from wearing their uniforms when dining in public.

It seems that several soldiers have been harassed and threatened. One was a drill seargent who had a bunch of thugs pound on the roof of his car while he was out with his wife.

I thought the peace-nics were non-violent?

Yep, I read the article in the SA Express News. It's disgusting. The fools doing that are giving the Alamo city a bad name.

anyone who treats a soldier like that should lose the rights their citizenship...let them go live in some communistic society with no freedom for a while and see how much they miss those soldiers

I agree. What they're doing is stupid. They say that a soldier should not follow the orders of the commander and chief and they should openly protest this war as if they have a say in this? I take it they've never been in the military before? Doing that is a good way to get shot. Besides, if they want someone to take their agression out on it should be those who gave the order to go to war, not those carrying out the orders. Those doing their duty are just doing their job. If we came into their jobs and said what they were doing was wrong, we'd be doing the same thing that they're doing to our soldiers. Our soldiers are doing their jobs. Lay off. If you don't like american policy, F'ing use your constitutional rights and vote! IF you don't like the moron in power who did something you don't agree with, then vote him out of office or impeach them. Don't whine, moan and complain. Vote, don't pout. Use the freedom's you seem to take for granted.

I hate stupid people, and these morons who think that the war is the fault of the soldier. That's like saying that urban decay is the fault of the ocean.

There are some decent people in the world. From my hometown paper:

Store Thanks Patriot Patron

Brockport - A Subway sandwich shop store here wants to thank one of its customers for being patriotic.

Several weeks ago, a good Samarian treated two Marines he had never met to lunch as a way of saying thanks for their service to the United States.

Dan Fredendall, 23, and Eric Fredendall, 18, brothers from Holly, Orleans County, were home on a short leave following basic training. When they stopped in at the Subway store at 4772 Lake Road, an unknown man paid for their lunch.

Walter and Julia Breese, the store's owners want to show their appreciation for this act of kindness by treating the man to a meal on the house. They are asking him to resturn to the store or call (585) 637-2805.

only in the movies. if you're on federal property, you can still be arrested by the military police. if you aren't, you fall under local law and the sheriff will haul your ass to jail :)
