These are the kind of stories I want to hear about our soldiers. Good job!
yeah but thats not what the news agencies are interested in airing....doesnt show the army in a bad light so its not good enough to be on the evening news

I won't get into a war debate but maybe the news doesn't show the army in a good light because there simply aren't enough interesting or positive stories to tell.
Which is more interesting (regardless if it's positive or negative):
A) Soldiers fire upon ally diplomat car and kills him
B) Soldiers do their job and arrest insurgents
I want to hear things out of the ordinary. For example, this medic was level headed enough to help the guy who tried to kill him. Good for him. That's commendable. The rest of them are just doing their job.

You really need to read more of the stuff like this
And to think that all soldiers do is arrest insurgents is truely ignorant.

I think his point is that arresting the insurgent and rendering medical aid was the soldier's job. Some soldiers don't do their job and torture insurgents and kill innocents. Does that mean that every time it comes to light that a soldier *did his job* people have to be up in arms about how only the bad gets attention? Does the fact that police officers are condemned for shooting off duty cops in the back mean that every time they make an arrest they deserve a hero's headline?
If soldiers deserve to be in the news every time they do their jobs or show humanity, I say we do the same for police officers, firemen, paramedics, and other people who make a living out of being heroes.
