Soldering Help

On one of my fans wires broke off from the connector on the actual fan (Its a Nidec Gamma28). I heard soldering is what your suppose to do in order to get an electric current through the fan.

What do I need in order to solder? (Do I have to buy somehting special or can I use something around the house?)

If it's just a wire, then a cheap 25W or more soldering iron and some rosin core solder from radio shack.

well, soldering is obviously the best way to make a connection, but it's not necessary if you don't want to buy a soldering iron.

you can strip two wires , twist them together, then twist them over themselves..then seal TIGHTLY with electrical tape. it's a decent solutions. but i would still suggest the cheap-o soldering iron and rosin core solder. do what i said above, but instead of putting on electrical tape last, you first heat up the wire, then touch with the solder, then when it's cool you tape it up tight again with electrical tape

remember, you're trying to heat the wire, and use the wire's heat to melt the solder.. if you directly melt the solder, then you run the risk of making a "cold solder"

He said he broke it off the connector on the fan. I don't think splicing is going to help here. Soldering won't either unless he has at least a piece of the other end still on the fan.
