solder iron

is it safe to solder inside the house? or does it need some assistance of fans?

i never tried it and i need to finish it for a class project.

spit out your rants! i just need some quick responses.

Heck yeah! Make sure to put your eye very close to the object you are soldering too! No eye protection! It will make your soldering sloppy!

I did a ton of soldering indoors without any fans.

As long as you aren't in a tiny room with the door shut I'm sure you're fine. Put a fan in the doorway if it makes you feel better.

oh ok thanks guys because i need to finish at least 5 dancing body figures out of 18 gauge copper wires and i was wondering if soldering indoors are the environment-safe.

thanks for the quick responses! i'm looking forward to solder it. it's for a college class due at 9am but i'll be doing 7 small figures which wouldn't take more than 2 or 3 hours.

however i have a question, how long will it take to cool down the solder iron?

ugh, totally soldered today and the fumes were just going straight up into my face. I have really long hair and a few strands got burned--that smelled even worse than the solder fumes.

to cool down? Less than 5 minutes.

hmm...it doesn't melt any copper wires at 18 gauge. i tried to stick the wire into the iron for minutes to see if it melts but it didn't.

now i'm gonna talk to my teacher at 9 to see what's up.

wait, you're trying to use a soldering iron to melt copper? Its meant to melt solder to connect copper together, so you won't be melting any copper w/ it
