Guy seems really nice. Any risk of asking him to deposit money into my bank of america account? if I wrote him a check, he'd have my account number anyway, right? So how bad is it to go to him and ask him to just deposit the money at bank of america?

Unless this is a high priced item, cash only. There's no reason to deal with anything else with someone you don't know.

cash is usually the only accepted form of currency among strangers, unless it is really expensive and then a cashier's check is...

only take a cashier's check if you go to the bank with them to get it drawn. too easy to make a fake check.

Just give the "nice" guy your ATM card and pin and ask him to make a deposit that way. No reason to inconvenience hime by making him wait until the bank is actually open...

Op, did you really think we would tell you anything other than ask for cash?
