Depends on what OS. I put Win 7- 64bit on one and had roughly 45GB left over. Granted, this was a special set up that everything is going on one drive and it will be plenty of space. While I think you'd want another drive as a storage/everyday drive, it's plenty of space to throw your most used apps/games on as well as the OS.

Win7 64-bit is about 17GB after updates and critical drivers are installed so not too bad.
