Seems like a good deal to me. What do you guys think of newegg refurbs? I got a aopen 56x cd rom from them for $19 shipped, only refurb i've tryed and it worked great. Have you guys had any problems with them?

Video cards, memory, motherboards, and cpus are good as refurbished. Basically they are good if they work.
The stuff with moving parts like hard drives, cd/dvd drives etc are bad idea unless the money is a big issue. To try to save few bucks and get a defective device with 30 days warranty is stupid.
Refurbished hard drives are one big NO.
Newegg has great deals on refurbished motherboards and occasionally video cards.

Is there a way to remove a slot-loaded cd if the cd gets stuck inside, like a paperclip hole or something?

jjsole, I've got a 103S, which is basically the same drive, only it reads DVDs slower. There is no paper clip hole to pop out CDs, but I've had my drive for over two years and haven't had a single problem with the disc getting stuck in the drive. I use the drive every day. Hope this helps you a bit! They're already sold out anyways.

No probs with any refurb yet...
Put together about 3 PCs from Refurb junkyard errorneously thinking somebody could find them useful (friends, family, coworkers, etc).
Now I 've got 2 Duron 1Ghz system and 1 Athlon 1Ghz "complete" systems for $260(At Cost!) with nobody interested in them.

Some of my recent finds were Geforce2 MX 400 64MB w/ TV Out = 49
ATI Rage Fury 32MB w/ TV out = 25!!
ATI Expert2000 Pro 32MB=22!!
Aopen 56X Black =19!
DDR Socket A MOBO GA-7DX =39 All with free shipping.. just to name a few
Approx 4 mATX cases 29+8 S&H

Regret, self guilt, and the pride of owning 3X 1Ghz systems, PRICELESS!

Hardware collection can have serious consequences!!
*Note to self* stop collecting Junk! Must resist.

jjsole: I've never had "CD Jams" in about 7 years of use and never known anyone who did either. It's just one of those things... , it'll be fine. I wonder if it works sideways tho, ex. when the desktop is turned onto it's side

Daddycool im glad to hear that you have had such good experience with refurbished stuff :) I have your same problem with buying stuff I dont need, heh. By the way the slot load drive does work on it's side.

These are back in stock! I think the 106s/2 have cd-text capabilities, not sure.

$ 47 + 9 shipping

I just got mine, and I'm not used to the slot loading yet. It jitters a little when I insert a cd/dvd. Anyone else have this happening?
