man, shipping is a real deal killer, $9.XX for shipping to Redwood City, CA. I guess paying $10 for a 64 MB card is still a hot deal.

thanks

LOL! Yeah, I guess he types faster than me: posted at 10/30/2002 7:34 and I posted at 10/30/2002 7:36, so I hardly call this a repost - maybe a "near simultaneous posting" ;)

True, you guys probably were both working on them at the same time! Even if you were within one minute tho, you're still eligible for a REPOST alert. :D

Actually I hate it when two threads for the same thing are going because I like people to post the good info in one place so I can catch it easier, thats why I like them killed quickly.

Beware of their rebates!
Check out what others have to say at resellerratings.com before you order so that you know what you're getting into.

'Limit one per name, address, and PO Box' on the MIR - does this mean no more than one item of each type or no more than one item ie either SD or MS ?

You mean this rebate: pdf for memory stick or SD card?

Yeah, looks like ONE memory stick or ONE SD, but the CF rebate is separate! ;)

Here's the Compact Flash rebate form: Valid for purchases on October 31st ONLY!!!

Seems okay, IO Data, "8x - 12x" speed, beats paying $35!

The rebate requires "original receipt" and says photocopies will not be accepted...so, looks like you can only get one of these rebate items in a single order (making it harder to use the mastercard (10/50) promotion).

Yeah, if you want two items you need to make two orders: one if you want a Compact Flash, and one for either a Secure Digital or a Memory Stick. I guess they will sell some of those wireless mice after all! ;)

I tried to get an order over $50, but no mastercard deal:

Product Description Quantity Price Ext. Price
Compaq Wireless Scroll Mouse 1 $ 9.99 $ 9.99
I-O Data 64MB Memory Stick 1 $ 29.99 $ 29.99
Microtek 3000 48 bit Scanner 600x1200 $ 1 $ 19.61 $ 19.61
Subtotal: $ 59.59

I think it's better just to order one on one order and another on a second - A compact flash card plus one of the two others, secure digital or memory stick.

Too Bad!

There's a price mistake early this morning for "Lexar Media Compact Flash & Smart Media USB Reader":

When I add it to my shopping cart, it shows $9.99 each(it's a hot price!). But for some reason I didn't get MasterCard discount (My shopping is over $50 in total even with this price mistake.). I redo with the MasterCard discount $10 off $50, but hte price for the card read back to $14.99(still nice a deal). That happens only within 20 minutes.

Bad Luck! :)

Another things I want to mention again: "Airborne Second Day Service " is cheaper for me than the UPS. My order had already been "delivered to the carrier for pickup" since I placed my order around 4am this morning. It seems that they definitely run the UPS price up for this "free memory cards"offer, but forget to raise the "Airborne Second Day Service" price.

Good Luck

Not trying to thread crap, but there have been many posts here about how rotten a company TigerDirect is. They've sold people's credit card numbers to long-distance companies in the past and these individuals got charged even when they DID NOT enroll with these long-distance programs. I've had bad experiences with TigerDirect also.

It's unfortunate that AnandTech is now hyping TigerDirect deals. I guess they need the money, eh?

TigerDirect is a shoddy company. They utilize unethical and deceptive business practices as well as sell your private data without your permission. Speaking of deceptive, the moderator has removed their company name from the locked ad thread above; now you don't know it's a TD ad until you waste the time to click on it and see the name. About as bad as a f**kin' pop-up.:disgust:

MY EXPERIENCE (which was very bad):

I ordered the 64MB SD Memory Card and it was showing as "INSTOCK". I also purchased something else to ride the shipping costs. Their status page has different "levels". Don't be fooled into believeing your item is shipped without looking at all the different "levels". I found out that the 64MB SD Memory Card was "backordered", while the other item(which I didn't really want) had shipped. @ this point, the word "SCREWED" is in my head.

I called Customer Service @tigerdirect, and he tells me that this item is backordered. So I ask him how the heck I'm going to get my rebate postmarked by 11/15 if I don't get my product by then. He clumsily makes up this story about how tiger direct is going to extend the rebate postmark date. End Call.

But then, I remember in our conversation he mentioned something about the product being discontinued and no longer available... strange now that i think of it. So I check the tiger order status page again, and guess what, it shows the 64MB SD Memory Card as "Cancelled". WTheck.

I called Customer Service @tigerdirect again. This time I'm told that the demand was so high that they have to cancel most orders. So I get something I don't want and have to pay shipping for it. "Do I look like a whore?"... "then why are u screwing me twice". Geeze, I will NEVER SHOP @ tigerdirect again.

MAN! I'm still really upset. I should have spent that money on the $14.99 durex condom deal !

Raise h?ll then!

Make a complaint at the FTC - takes 30 seconds.

Send an e-mail to MasterCard, they are "marketing partners"

Dispute the credit card charge and refuse the shipment - the order is a contract, how can they refuse half a contract?

Write to Anand, and ask him to stop supporting them by running their ads.

Call your state AG's office and file a complaint.

Total time, 5 minutes - hassle to TigerDirect? Priceless.

JUst because Anand accepts their advertising dollars, don't think TigerDirect is any different than they used to be. Anyone that buys from them from this forum deserves to get burned.
