Sold my 2007 C230. Getting a 2010 Mazda 3.

grats! I love the white, if they sold the speed in white I would have gotten that instead of the blue.

Mazda3 drives and handles like much more expensive cars. Not surprising, since the platform is also used on Volvo.

love my Mazda 3 for nearly 100k miles I put on it 😀. welcome to the fold

Thanks and yes it definitely handles like more expensive cars. My cousin has a 2011 BMW 335 and while the handling is a bit better than the Mazda, it's not very noticeable. I wish the s sport mazda 3 was a bit cheaper or they beefed up the entry level engine a bit more but I guess they have to balance costs and fuel economy.

Some pics of the car:

no problems with my mom's 2010 and my speed3 is running really well after 23k of hard driving - even the trims are < 5%. 17 OTD is ok, might have been able to go a little lower. Got a speed3 + iTouring for ~39k OTD.

You paid nearly $40k for a mazdaspeed3? 😵

my friends c-class benz had a broken gas gauge. $4k to fix from the dealer. I just lol'd and told her, you gotta pay to play...

Do people actually use the gas gauge? The damn thing doesn't even work on most cars. The fuel warning light is on when the car still has 5 gallons of fuel left. In my 92 Ford Tempo, the gauge would go waaaay past the full mark and it would sit at full for ~200 miles then rapidly drop to empty. My girlfriend's Toyota Corolla is similar.
They might as well not even have a fuel gauge if it's just randomly guessing how much fuel is left.

I don't think I have ever had a gas gauge I didn't believe. Now, saying that, I know that when my car says 'RANGE: 0', it means I can probably go 30 more miles...

Just filled up today, range said 0 for about 5 miles. Filled up 13.5 gallons, car has a 15.9 gallon tank. Lots of safety room.

Probably for the better. If it was 100% accurate, you know some asshole would try running it until the range was 0.001 miles before filling up 😀

I've found my 2008 Accord's fuel gauge to be very accurate. The warning light comes on when my range is 50 miles. I usually fill up when it gets to 25 miles left. At that point I fill up with 17.5 gallons. I get 25MPG. The tank holds 18.5 gallons.

It's like magic.

How can you survive without power locks? Iono how Mazda can put power windows and no power locks. Lol

Nice car other than that!

I will say outloud that my mother actually went from an early 2000's (I forget the exact year) minivan in the town & country w/ all the trim, etc. It finally gave up the ghost.

Now, she went from that (cuz all kids are outta the house now) to a Mazda 3. I couldn't believe it when I heard, but then I drove it. She got a ridiculously good deal (circa $13K OTD?)

Anywhoo......I drove it last time she was down and the thing's a BLAST!!! I'd have never thought I'd enjoy a car like that, but it was seriously fun! I could get addicted to the way that thing hugs the road for sure! Smart buy!!

Oh, and if/when you hit pay dirt as a doc, screw the tristar.........build the baddest custom mazda 3 on the planet & get some M3-doc license plates & park next to a BMW M3!! 😉

the instrument cluster is apparently only one piece, some shit or other about odometre tampering prevention... fucking MB Canada made me change the whole dashboard just so the speedo is in metric... never mind the centre display can be configured to be metric.

Cost me 2500 though installed. If it wasn't for my wife's insistence I would have forgone the remainder of the warranty and gambled any warranty repair would be less than that.

Seeing as how I can replace the entire exhaust system on my Jetta TDI for 6k (DPF, Cat, pipes, labor for dropping the front subframe, etc), I don't think this is very accurate.

Packaging is everything. If the mechanic has to take apart the entire dash, and then some, to get at the gauge cluster... at Benz dealer rates that could add up real quickly.

I remember some Jaguar where changing the clutch was like $5,000 because it involved taking out the engine and the transmission and unplugging a ton of shit. The whole process took something like 22 shop hours.
