Just looking for a few opinions..I sold a game I bought new but never opened, it was still in factory shrinkwrap (I used to work at a babbages back in high school so I know what store shrinkwrapped items look like opposed to factory shrinkwrap).

Anyway, I got a message today claiming there was an AOL 9.0 disc inside, and he to know how i can explain this. I sold it for like $8, so the money was trivial, but I highly doubt the game wasn't there. Any recommendations as to how to tackle this??

Find another copy and send it to him I guess. Make sure you call him a lying asshole.

Tell him to contact the manufacturer of the game and file a complaint since it was still in its original shrink wrap.

Sounds about right.

You can't loose on this matter no what if the game was shrink wrapped. It's like a retail store selling a shrink wrapped Apple Ipod, and inside they find chocolate instead of an Ipod.

Some kid that worked at Babbage's stole the game and put an AOL CD in there, and re-shrinkwrapped. Sorry it does happen all the time. Employees are often the worst thieves a store like that can have.

Send him 9 bucks refund and be done with it.

This is a tough one. So many stores have shrink wrap machines, and even individuals have these machines to make software look unopened. Not sure why someone would claim an $8 game is an AOL disk unless it was so. My suggestion is to refund the money and next time, don't sell something shrink wrapped. Lesson learned.

There's shrinkwrap and then there's FILM wrap.

Usually new games will have a film wrap (like a present wrapped in clear wrapping paper, with the nice folds at the end, etc), though some new games will come in a shrinkwrap (you can tell by the "melted" line on one edge).

If it was a shrinkwrapped (melted edge), then there's a better chance it was resealed.
