Web hosting: from an administrative point of view, which one should I go for and why?

i picked rh + apache only b/c i'm more familiar with it dominating the market vs. solaris.

What if we throw PHP & MySQL, Siteminder (to connect to an Oracle DB) into the equation?

Iplanet is a web app server which means it includes a servlet container.
Apache is simply a web server designed to process html.

Last I heard Ebay was using clustered Sparc machines with Iplanet to host the web app. It might have changed though. I can't find any info on Iplanet on ebay anymore.
