Anyone have solar screens? I'm thinking of getting them for my house but I'm not sure of the cost/benefit of getting them. Also, are these screens something that can be done as a DIY project? Does Home Depot carries the necessary parts to make and install these myself?

I don't know much about these, but my uncle had some up in Maine to heat his basement. They seemed to work alright, but I have no idea about where to get them or how much they cost.

Actually solar screens are meant to keep out the heat, and only let the sunlight in. Not sure how the technology works, but I've heard it can really lower the electric bills cause the A/C isn't running all the time.

I used to make them and install them. I think it could be a very easy DIY project. Home Depot or Lowes or whatever may be a good resource. They are normally installed so they cover the entire window. Some are are fixed in a frame, and some are roll up. you do have choices.

And they do a good job of reducing heat in the home and ultra violet damage to carpet and upholstery.

Good luck.
