software using de-interlacing of Radeon LE???

Hi, my friend got a radeon LE and he installed the driver and ATI multimedia center, under the control panel the adaptive de-interlacing was checked, but the ATI DVD player can't playback DVDs(no video, audio while the DVD is spinning), powerDVD 3.0 can play back DVDs but the hardware accelarator option is not available(grayed out) plus the quality is not much better expect the color is more saturated,

I am asking anybody has the same problem, or is there software making use of the radeon DVD feature?
