I have an iPad 4 with retina running the original IOS 6.01.03. The only problem that I have with it is that Safari occasionally quits and I have to click on it to re-boot it. It does return to the original website, however. I don't watch movies or stream music. I think I can upgrade to IOS 8 or 9. Should I?

All sorts of stuff. Better integration with iCloud and other Apple devices is the big one, iirc. You'll also be able to run newer applications that require the newer OS.

s'up to you.

You could probably sell it on ebay as is to some jailbreaker for a bit of a premium. They like starting with the older iOS versions so they can jailbreak it first and then revert if they want or bounce between different versions as needed. Without that, once you upgrade you can never go back.

I just wanted to make sure. I remembered that one of the early upgrades made non-Apple charging cords not work. I'm OK there, as all my cords are certified.
