Software to shrink 3TB hard drive partition?

Hi

I need to shrink a non-OS 3TB hard drive's only partition to create a second partition. Is Windows 7's built-in facility reliable enough, or is it better to use a third party tool like Parted Magic?

Your feedback and suggestions, please!

It's more than reliable enough. I've used it many times. Provided you meet the necessary requirements for shrinking I.e., having enough free space, you're golden.

I've used it several times, and you won't find a tool much better for the job, unless you need support for filesystems aside from NTFs & FAT/32.

Dunno if it's better than Windows partitioner, but I like the way it works, and it's cross platform, so it's a good all-in-one tool.

The Win 7 disk management program works really well. It's easy and seamless.

It's a good idea to have a BOOTABLE media that will run a partitioning software,just in case something goes horribly wrong...

A lot of good FREE programs offer this options like MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7 and
EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition
Gparted is very good too but very slow to boot,better to have any linux live cd(or usb) if you need gparted's file copying capabilities.
