Software to share clipboard over network, copy and paste between networked computers

I've started using my laptop alongside my desktop. I constantly find myself handtyping urls and other things that I would normally copy & paste. Is there any (free) software that allows you to share the clipboard between multiple computers?

to clarify: I want to copy on computer A and paste on computer B.

No, I don't need to transfer files, I can already do that a handful of ways. I want to be able to copy and paste text.

I've used one in the past, but unfortunately I can't remember what it was called.

If you have the laptop right next to your desktop, you should check out Synergy. It allows you to use a single keyboard+mouse for both machines, similar to having multiple monitors and it synchronizes the clipboards. I use it and it's pretty nice, for instance, I can highlight a URL on my Linux desktop then copy and paste it to my Windows laptop just as if they were one machine.
