Software to scan hard drive of deleted files?

Fixing a computer that got hit with the CTB.Locker ransomeware. Man is this a ugly one.

I readup that it makes copys of your files, encrypts them, then deletes the originals. Then it wipes out your volume shadow copies.

I am trying Piriform recuvva, and I have alwsys had mixed results with it. Are there any other good tried and true ones out there?

Are you trying to recover the old original now deleted files?
Cause dban is for total destruction of your drive's data.

Yes! Computer was not used after the virus hit, so I think if there is a good program out there, it may find some of the files.
 
Might want to change the thread title then. Scrubbing a hard drive of deleted files actually means to wipe the drive with a tool like DBAN to intentionally make the files unrecoverable. You're looking to recover deleted files, not scrub a drive 😛
