A friend of mine give me his old DIVX/DVD player and a bunch of DIVX movies with it . We were looking at the file formats and it is totally different :( Anyone know of a DVD Decryptor ripper program and conversion program to change the DIVX files to a VIDEO_TS dvd compatible file ?

ouch.... that sounds like its not going to be easy, or fun...

however, i think that the movie itself was still some sort of MPEG 2, IIRC.

I wouldn't think there'd be any program to do this for you, because of the relative obscurity of that DIVX thing... plus when you try to SEARCH for something about it, all you'll end up getting are hits about DivX the video format.....

hmm...

Thanks guys

The search is difficult because everything is about DivX . The disc does contain a VIDEO_TS folder , but all the video files are in a folder names ZOOM . I will check deeper into doom9 , I browsed through earlier but came up with all DivX stuff .

The search continues ........ :D

Heh the search made more difficult and confusing because of hackers calling the (pre) MPEG4 codec DivX ;-) when it has no relation to Circuit City's DivX.

IIRC, CC was issuing a refund for their DivX players and media a couple years back when they shut it all down at a substantial loss.

On a semi-related note, we'll soon again see DVD movies that expire. However, this time it'll be implemented by a chemical interaction with air when you unseal the disc, rather than by a remote service over a phone-line connection. Much much better; with our disposable society you could possibly see Blockbuster renting out only disposable DVDs if the cost per unit is very low.

I've read about that and I think it is great! No more freakin' late fees and copies available for everyone! YEAH!!

Terrible idea... not just environmentally irresponsible, but also will lead to a lot of unhappy customers.

Can't find anything :( Looks like I'll use the dvd player function and use the DIVX discs for target practice
