:disgust: Hello all; first post here. "Those in the know" recommended I come here.
Without going into unnecessary details my upgrading of Kaspersky AV has caused a ton of problems. I have managed to resolve most but I'm really stuck with cleaning up the 'dead bodies'. KAV upgrade caused double, triple & even quadruple copies of my files to be created. Most noticable were those in the Start Menu. I followed the trail but realize now I'm overcome. After manually finding and deleting nearly 2,000 entries by hand I've discovered the damage is broader than I thought. To check I opened C:\Windows\System32. In it I saw the telltale (2)(3)(4) signatures. I won't even attempt a manual cleaning of that folder.
Is anyone aware of software that could possibly scan my system for these duplicates? I once had the app "FolderMatch" which might have been able to do it but I no longer have a copy. That also is not that apps intended use. Does any such proggy exist? If so please let me know.
Thanks in advance-
