Software to Remote Login to XP?

Would like to log into my desktop from my laptop when I am on the road. I don't feel Remote Desktop is too good in windows xp, and wondering if there is a better alternative. Suggestions?
 
What's not good about it? I've found it to be VERY fast and reliable.

VNC would probably be your next bet.
