I got a call today from a tech support specialist for a software I'm just getting acquainted with. I was expecting the call, and it lasted for an hour. This software runs on my Windows XP machines (on my Windows 7 laptop too, for sure) and accesses server data. This guy had me fire up the software and he had access to my screen and he had the ability to click his mouse on my screen in such a way that I could tell he was clicking it (little star bursts, cool). Well, my problem is that this software is extremely complex with a ton of functionality and I don't remember a whole lot of what he showed me. If I could have made a recording of what transpired, I could review it as I try to get deeply into the software. I have an audio recorder that I could have used to record the phone conversation (speaker phone), but it wouldn't do me a whole lot of good without being able to see the screen. I think I've heard of software that will record as video what goes on on the screen, but I don't remember anything about it (quite a while ago). What's out there? Is there something free?
Even if I can't synch sound up with the video, I could play it separately and just synch them up manually. Issues like variance in time could be dealt with using pause and FF/REW.
