Yes i know the title is a little deceiving, but i remember seeing this a while ago when people would upload videos of themselves playing crysis on a netbook, but really, eveything was happening on their main PC, and the video was being transferred over the network connection, and the keyboard on the network was controlling the main pc that was powering the game.

Right now im trying to make my living room PC halfway decent to play games on, but since ill never be on both at the same time, maybe this is just a better option, if its easy enough, and it actually works like it should. It would also save me a ton of money considering i could probably sell my higher priced parts, and then just have a low to decent computer in the living room to do everything on.

How do people do this?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section btw.

windows remote desktop with sound might work but never tried it.

This requires your main pc to have a remote desktop server which means it must be Win <version> Professional or better. (although you could hack it at least in vista to work on home premium too).

It probably also requires a rather fast connection.

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Add the hyper-v role and create a Windows 7 pro or higher guest with the "RemoteFX" video driver installed.

May also be done with Mocrosoft Hyper-V server 2008 R2 SP1 but never tried it.

You can't get DirectX over normal RDP. You need RemoteFX which is only available for Windows Server.

I think the OP is referring to a demo for some proprietary software, but I don't remember the name.

I just remember that it basically shared the screen across the network, and then uses the keyboard and mouse from the netbook to control the main pc which was powering the game.

Cant seem to find it anywhere though.

Why not get a:

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Extender-...pr_product_top

or a:

http://www.amazon.com/BlueRigger-HDM.../dp/B004GW25WY

Once you get the video properly transmitting over distance, it would be a cinch to get a mouse and keyboard to do the same thing:

http://www.amazon.com/over-Cat5-Exte.../dp/B0022WZM2K

Could do the whole job for under 50 bucks if you have the tool to crimp cat5 cable.

well i have a gaming PC in both my room and the living room, but i was wondering more for the novelty/ability to use it on any computer on my network.

For example, Im setting up my projector in the basement, and im going to have a relatively low-powered computer attached to it, but having the option to game on that or even playing on my macbook air would be sweet.
