My other mobo with a Celeron came with a Windows based software that lets me check the fan speed, temp, etc.

Anyone know of similar software for the Epox 8KHA+?

I use MBM5 on my 8KHA+, though my -12v and -5v rails are really messed, both are positive  but all others are perfect.

It's my 3.3v that MBM gets wrong on my setup. And the CPU temp is suspect also. I don't personally like this program, and am looking for another good choice. Anyone have experience with this board and another program? thanks

Altho I use MBM 5 myself, doesnt the 8KHA+ mobo disk come with some via monitoring program? If I could find my disk, I would be able to tell you what the program was :)

I spent a few minutes searching the web. MBM is the only one I found. What other ones are there?

Also, I didn't find any type of Windows-based monitoring software on the CD that came with the mobo. Did I not look hard enough? Anyone find a gem?

I use MBprobe:

MBProbe

it's a bit smaller than MBM5, not as many options and it's basically an install it yourself jobber but it works OK for me.

It too gives me bad +3.3v data (comes out as 1.52v (perhaps it's the Vagp or something????)) and low -5v and -12v readings but so does Sandra.. and seeing your replies, it seems that MBM5 does too for some people...Have no idea why though, perhaps a nonstandard memory address that Epox uses that confuses all these monitoring programs???

That's exactly what my 3.3 comes out too also. When I boot up, my 3.3 comes out being what it should be. I'm pretty sure it's misinterpreting it for the vagp. I lack a technical explanation also, but I think this is what is happening.

I got a reply from Jonathan Teh (the author of MBProbe) regarding the discrepency of the +3.3v line and the EPoX 8Kha+. Other than confirming mine (our?) suspiction that it means nothing and is not a problem, it at least clears things up a bit as to why the reading is wrong or inaccurate:

<< Thanks for your mail.

The +1.52V reading on the supposedly +3.3V line is likely not a problem in itself. Trouble is, many motherboard manufacturers choose to ignore the guidelines set out by the hardware monitoring chip designers and connect the voltages their own way. Of course, they don't tell us software authors :(

Previously, the +2.5V line was "abused" in this way. Now I suppose they do the same to the +3.3V. A +1.5V line is simply the AGTL voltage used by the Intel P6 bus (which includes the PII, PIII and Celerons). You are also correct when you say the AGP bus also uses this voltage.

I suppose I now have a new question for the FAQ ;-)

Oh well, perhaps there will be a patch or so, cause it does exist in the Bios, I believe... so maybe EPoX could send J.T. the specs and he could implement a small patch perhaps..

Nice work Jay H...that's why I love coming here. The BIOS does read it correctly, including my CPU temp. Or, I should say, as close as it could be read with the current means. Thanks for the info
