I'm assuming I have to convert mp3's before I can cut a CD and play them on a CD player. What free software do I use to do this? Any other suggestions aside from getting an MP3 player?

use winamp and do the file writer output, itll output it to wav files to the directory you choose, then you can burn the wav files onto cds for use in regular cd players

what kind of software came with your burner?

Nero and Adaptec EZ CD creator will both do the transformation for you, on the fly.

I use EZ CD creator 4.02 for audio cds, it's excellent. Neither program is free, but most burners come with a version of one or the other.
