software to adjust monitor brightness

The recent Dell LCD/TV deals produced threads mentioning some monitors' lowest brightness still being too bright. What software can control this ? I just tried powerstrip but that doesn't seem to be doing the job. Thx.

If I understand you right, you've bought a monitor that even when you turn down the brightness fully it's still too bright. Is that right?
Why can't you return it?
