My father, who is 80, is reaching the end of playing Freecell-the only game he plays & he only has a few hundred more to go. He is active, has all facilities, is not too computer literate. Was an active pilot until recently, but not interested in flight sims. Any kind of twitch game is out.

He used to play Pacman a lot on the Atari computer.

His computer is OK, nothing special-a P3 500 or so, as I recall. No high speed internet, internet is on dialup on their only phone line so no internet games please.

Any ideas what to introduce him to next? I was thinking of some kind of adventure game, perhaps, but I'm not real familiar with them. Something challenging without a high frustration level.

Perhaps an interesting strategy game, such as Age of Empires I or II. They have a little bit of history and take some thought and a lot of time.

If your dad has any interest in Civil War history, Sid Meier's Gettysburg might be something to consider, too.

My mother always enjoyed playing puzzle oriented games... like 7th Guest / 11th Hour.

You could probably get a copy of either very cheap... last I tried both ran pretty well in Windows.

How good is he with a mouse?? A lot of younger people complain about not being able to perform the "gestures" very well with the mouse. Unfourtunately, this is required to play the game. Also, if the frame rate is low it makes it impossible to perform gestures.

If you can't do the gestures you cannot play the game.
