I receintly posted a new topic in the General Hardware forum asking for information regarding what to look for when purchasing software from a private party. In particular, someone in the For Sale forum wants to trade me some Office 2000 software for some other hardware I have. The thread was locked.

I was not trying to sell this software on Anandtech, only trying to find out what is required for me to make a legal purchase (trade)?

I could not find any info in the posting guidelines regarding restrictions on inquiries of this type.

Question: What are the Anandtech guidelines regarding posts of this type?
 
I just went back to check my origional thread and noticed that the Moderator added a note as to why the thread was locked. This note was added some time after the lock so I did not see it before posting my question.

I will repost the question in a different forum since with question was not Hardware related.
